Obituary

In the cool morning God sat on His throne and commanded His angel, "Go down and bring her home to me." She smiled and closed her eyes knowing "Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me on that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing."

Rebecca L. Jordan went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2022.

"Becki", the oldest of five children, was born on December 15, 1925, to Arthur and Elnora Dinwiddie in Clarksville, Texas. Later Elnora married IV Carreathers. Together they loved, cared for, and cherished Becki as their child.

Rebecca attended elementary and high school in Clarksville, TX. After graduation she attended college and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught math at Okmulgee State Tech, and later moved to Ft. Lewis in Washington State where she earned a Master of Science from Puget Sound University where she taught business education. Upon returning to Muskogee, Oklahoma, she gained employment with the Veterans Administration until retirement. After retirement she worked part-time as a foster grandparent in the Muskogee Public School System.

Rebecca married the late Robert Jordan and lived in Tacoma, Washington until she moved back to Muskogee to be with her mother. She united with the Jerusalem Baptist church where she served as Sunday school teacher. Later she united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK under the leadership of Pastor B.W.Noble. There she served in multiple capacities: mission secretary, evangelism team, Sunday school teacher, organist/pianist, vacation Bible school coordinator, and kitchen staff. She had a love and passion for the Lord and was a frontline soldier serving as a prayer warrior where she was dedicated to praying tirelessly for her family, church members, and friends. She was the last living "Mother" of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

She was an active member of National Baptist Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Mini Congress, Progressive Creek Association, and General Baptist State Convention of Oklahoma.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her fathers, Arthur Dinwiddie and IV Carreathers; her mother, Elnora Carreathers; brother, Otis Daniel Carreathers; two sisters, Bettye R. McJunkin and Darlene Stale; two nieces and five nephews. She was dedicated to her family (nieces and nephews) who affectionately called her "Aunt Becki".

Forever cherishing her memories are her sister, Mary L. Ankrom-Hinton of Muskogee, OK; nieces, Greta Carreathers-Riggins (Joel) of Oklahoma City, OK; LaNita Birdow of Midwest City, OK; Denise Adkins of Yukon, OK; Mary Cain of Omaha, NE; Bernadette Hinton of Midwest City, OK; Valarie McJunkin of Omaha, NE; Edie McJunkin of Muskogee, OK; nephews, Dean Hinton (Linda) of Midwest City, OK; Keith McJunkin of Omaha, NE; along with a host of cousins (TX).
