On November 10, 1950, a glorious baby boy was born from the union of Hubert and Erma Jean [Foley] Adkins, who was their first born child. Better known as "Reggie", he grew up in Boynton, where he attended Boynton High School. He then attended Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee, where he became a Diesel Mechanic. He enjoyed working on large farm equipment and he retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
Mr. Adkins was a kind, giving and "always" helpful person. Reggie married Cheryl Nesbitt and their union was blessed with four daughters; Rosalyn [Steve] Brown, Rochelle Wordlow, Rana [Marcus] McVay and Renita Wordlow; fourteen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; his loving, devoted Mother, Erma Jean Adkins; three brothers, Edwin [Sandra] Adkins, Jessie [Sheila] Adkins and Troy [LaDonna] Adkins; three sisters, Jackie [Robert] Stockard, Janice [Carl] Pouncil and Denise Walker; a caravan of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Reginald Adkins, after 64 years of life, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert E. Adkins, Sr., his brother Hubert E. Adkins, Jr.,and a grandson, Jeremy Wordlow.
A Graveside Ceremony will be shared on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the Cane Creek Cemetery in Boynton, Oklahoma. Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., Pastor of Rayfield Baptist Church will officiate.
You may visit Mr. Adkins as he slumbers at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM and on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
