Obituary

Mrs. Rennetta Denis Boyd, in her 49th season, dozed into the tranquil peace of eternal slumber on Saturday evening, October 27, 2007 with her loving family at her side.

Rennetta Denise Boyd, the second child born to the union of Wilma and Willis Harris was born May 29, 1958.

Rennetta, lovingly known as "Net" among family and close friends, was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Antioch Baptist Church where she remained an active and faithful member. Her formative years were spent in Tulsa where she attended public school and ultimately graduated from the former McLain High School in 1976. She received an associate's degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Development from Langston University.

Rennetta had a strong love for children which led her into the area of helping special needs children. She spent 26 years working in the children's health care profession at companies such as Children's Medical Center and Hillcrest Medical Children's Hospital Group-Home. At the group home, her responsibilities included overseeing the care of the children. When the hospital group home closed, she believed her life's work should continue in the area of aiding children. She felt it was her mission and chose to work with a smaller company that took on the task of managing the care of the children displaced by the hospital's closure. She remained with Relations' Community Services Company of Oklahoma as Assistant Director until her health failed.

In May of 1990, Rennetta was united in marriage with Howard Boyd. To this union was born a daughter, Andrea Denise Boyd. Rennetta cherished her daughter and was extremely devoted to Andrea.

Rennetta loved her family. She attended every "Tease Family Reunion," which has been held every two years since 1977. Even with her failing health, she was able to attend the reunion this past July. She also attended the "Harris Family Reunion" held each year.

Rennetta was blessed to love and be loved by so many. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Andrea, devoted parents: Wilma and Willis Harris, Tulsa, OK., a sister, Gloria and Randy Charles, Flower Mound, TX., two brothers, Kenneth Harris, Tulsa, OK., Nathaniel Harris of Grand Prairie, TX., She was loved and surrounded by a host of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins along with her other relatives, friends, as well as her children at the group home who will miss her presence, and cherish her precious memory.

The tribute will be on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in the Antioch Baptist Church. Reverend M. C. Potter will officiate. The Christian Committal will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.

You may visit Rennetta, as she slumbers at the funeral home in Tulsa on Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM.
