The Reverend J. L. Potter, Pastor Emeritus of New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Tulsa, Oklahoma, transferred his membership to "Church Triumphant" on Tuesday morning, September 6, 2005 in his 91st year.
Pastor Potter was born in Fort Worth, Texas but grew up in Summit, Oklahoma with his family. He attended DuBois School in Summit and Manual Training High School in Muskogee.
He served as Pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church for over 50 years before his retirement.
He leaves to lament his passing; his wife, Velma Potter, of the home in Tulsa; two sisters, Rosa Bates, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Bernice V. Porter, Dallas, Texas; 2 grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The Worship Service of Thanksgiving will be held on Monday, September 12, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Tulsa. Reverend Arice Pittman, Pastor, will officiate. The Christian Committal will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
