Mr. Richard A. Scott, after "Four-Score years, moved to his Father's House" on Monday morning, December 16, 2019 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
On December 13, 1939, a baby boy was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Sam and Gertrude Scott. He was given the name Richard Arlen Scott. He accepted Christ at a young age in Muskogee at New Zion Baptist Church. He received his formal education in Muskogee, finishing High School at the legendary Manual Training High School with the Class of 1957.
Richard attended Langston University before graduating from Tool and Die College in Chicago, Illinois.
He served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960 before his honorable discharge. After the Army, he went to work and was employed with the CPC International in Chicago, Illinois from 1961 until 1993. After he retired, he was employed with Sears in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Richard was a faithful member of the New Zion Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend Gary Mitchum. He was very active in the Church and served on the treasury board.
On September 25, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Bobbie Meriwether and they remained married until his death. From their union, two children were born; a son, Robin and a daughter, Kimberlee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, hi sisters, Ollie Mae, Jewel and Ernestine and his brother, Vernon.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory and legacy; his high school sweethear and wife of 61 years, Bobbie Scott, of the home in Muskogee; his son, Robin [Kathy], of Chicago, Illinois; his daughter, Kimberlee Scott-Peeples [Howard], of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandsons, Lemont Colford-Scott [Devon], Edmond, Oklahoma, Cour Vontrell, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his granddaughters, LeAnna Scott, Tulsa, Oklahoma, RiQuita Bennett [Jeremy], Edmond, Oklahoma, and Keana Scott, Chicago, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Zyan, Rhiley, Jerney, Xzavier, Dezirae, Makiya and Ryan; a sister, Vivian Scott, Muskogee, Oklahoma; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends and his church members who will mourn his passing.
The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Scott will commence on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Antioch Temple of Hope. Dr. Marlon J. Coleman, Sr., is the gracious host, Reverend Gary Hall, Sr., will officiate and Reverend Gary Mitchum, Sr., will deliver the Eulogy.
Burial will follow at 1:00 PM in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
