Ricky Earl Crutchfield was born February 11, 1962, to Doris Jean (Braggs) and Willie Crutchfield in Los Angeles, California at White Memorial Hospital. Ricky was the 1st born with his twin sister Renetta (Crutchfield) Cherry, and the 1st born of six children. He and Renetta were always proud to be the first set of twins born in the family. Ricky accepted the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the late Rev. J. A. Reed Sr. As a youth he was very active in the church. He always attended Sunday School, Baptist Training Union (BTU), youth meetings and sung in the Junior and Youth Choirs. He never missed an opportunity to be his dad's "side kick" on the church van to help the elderly members on and off the bus. He would even help his dad clean-up the church.
Ricky attended Muskogee Public Schools during elementary through high school. He was especially proud of having attended Wheatley Elementary for 3 years as during the time of his attendance it was one of the all black elementary schools in Muskogee in the late 1960's. During his school years he played football, was on the wrestling team and was also a member of the band were he played trumpet until he graduated. Ricky graduated from Muskogee High School in May 1980. Upon graduation he received a scholarship to attend N.E.O., Miami, Oklahoma and later transferred to Oklahoma State University while rooming with Renetta.
While attending college he met lovely Enid Gunn and later the two became one, July 1986. To this union, the couple was graced with the birth of one son, Jason Dontez Crutchfield. This marriage was late dissolved. Ricky loved food and loved to cook . For over 10 years, he managed Red Lobster in Oklahoma and Arkansas locations. Ricky moved back to Muskogee were he was employed with NFI for over 15 years.
At the prime age of 55, Ricky's health was complicated with serious challenges. Some he was able to overcome and some that would lead to his short time in hospice. On July 5, 2022, Mr. Ricky Earl Crutchfield transitioned to his eternal reward. Ricky was a dedicated son, brother, father, grandfather,
friend and employee. He will be remembered as a person who had a quiet nature, gentle spirit and a giving heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, maternal and paternal grandparents, 3 uncles Chester Ragsdale, Leroy Titsworth and Alvin Brown; 2 aunts Helen Titsworth and Betty McKneely; and nephew Christopher Jaiden Crutchfield (CJ).
He leaves to cherish his memory; 2 sons, Jason Crutchfield, Hominy, OK and Ricardo Crutchfield, Atwater, CA; a loving mother, Doris J. Crutchfield, Garland, TX; twin sister , Renetta Cherry, Muskogee, OK, sister, LeAnn Sims, Stillwater, OK, twin sister and brother, Kristen Crutchfield, Garland, TX; Christopher (Misty) Crutchfield, Muskogee, OK; baby brother, Byron (Yulonda) Crutchfield, Federal Way, WA; 3 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A childhood friend and classmate Deacon James A. Dorn, Sr..
A Service of Memory for Ricky will be conducted by his family on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 1:00PM in the most holy sanctuary of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Muskogee.
Floral Deliveries can be made on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 12:00PM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Muskogee.
