Robbie Janice "Jenny" Brown
April 29, 1955-June 23, 2011
A baby girl was delivered to Samuel Cohen and Nadine Manuel Cohen in San Bernadino, CA. on April 29, 1955. They named their newest addition Robbie Janice. Affectionately referred to as "Jenny," she attended school in San Bernadino, and married after the 11th grade, and relocated to Okmulgee, OK. She accepted Christ at an early age, and joined Greater Jones AME Zion Church. She later reaffirmed her faith joining St. Mary's Christian Center under Pastor Thaddeus Thompson, Sr. Robbie loved meeting new people, and was usually surrounded by family and friends. "Jenny" attracted her younger nieces and nephews, as well as their friends, and the friends of her daughters. Teens seemed to flock to her, and she would offer advice steering them in the right direction. Her favorite saying to them was either, "I'll be glad when you find yourself," or "you can miss me with that." If she heard anyone going astray, she would ask, "What are you doing, hanging out with friends you don't have?" Just 48 hours prior to her death, while in the hospital, she was "holding court" with the family's teenagers. Robbie also loved to decorate, as well as sing with her beautiful singing voice. Her sense of humor also attracted people, being a natural born comedian and mimic. She kept people around her in "stitches."
Robbie was preceded in death by her estranged husband, Clenard Brown, her father Samuel Cohen, brother Samuel Cohen, Jr., and nephew Derik Miller. Remaining to cherish her precious memories: her mother, Nadine Sanders-Cole (Norman), Beggs, OK., daughters, LaTrina Brown, Tulsa, OK., Dara Brown, Okmulgee, OK., three sisters: Brenda Carter (Darrell), Bartlesville, OK., Sharon Woodruff, Okmulgee, OK., Audrey Burton (William), Tulsa, OK., nine grandchildren: Trindell, Davion, Tyson, Jaiden, Julian, Gabrielle, Tulsa, OK., De'Von, Ana'ya, and Cer'yia, Tulsa, OK., four nephews, and three nieces: her special cousins: Shirley Sharon Brooks, and Katara Wheeler, two very special friends: Norvell Taylor and Billy Joe Taylor, great-great nieces and nephews along with a host of family and countless friends.
The hour of remembrance for "Jenny" will be Saturday July 2, 2011 at 11AM at St. Mary's Christian Center located at 710 N. Hillman. Pastor Thaddeus Thompson, Sr. will officiate. Burial of her Cremains will follow at Sharps Cemetery, southwest of Okmulgee.
