It all began on October 4, 1950, when Leroy L and Lois D. [Biglow] Wilson, Sr., celebrated the birth of a baby boy in Chicago, Illinois. They named him Robert George Wilson.
Affectionately called Bob or Bobby by family and friends, he grew up in Chicago, Illinois with his family before the family moved back to Oklahoma.
Mr. Wilson was a United States Marine, where he served his country honorably from November 9, 1972 until his discharge on November 8, 1976. After settling in Oklahoma, he was very active in the rodeo circuit and was a member of he Checotah Roughriders Club.
Bob was married to Frenchell Wilson and Karla Wilson during his life and loved his family dearly. He will be remembered for his laid back demeanor and the laughs and family gatherings every memorial day weekend in Okmulgee.
In his 72nd year of life, Robert George Wilson, Sr., " ceased from earthly labor" on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy L. Wilson, Sr., grandparents, and his sisters, Helen Brown and Lee Ann Garrett.
Those that wait on the Lord; his dear mother, Lois D. Wilson, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; his children, Robert G. Wilson Jr., [Angela], Okmulgee, Kesha Oates, Florida, Nichole Wilson, Oklahoma City, Jessica Wilson, Edmond, Oklahoma, Jayda Wilson, Okmulgee, Billy Merritt, Okmulgee, Allana Merritt, Arkansas, and Kathy Bradford, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his brother, Leroy L. Wilson, Jr., Okmulgee; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and many friends.
The Hour of Reflection for Mr. Wilson will commence on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the most holy sanctuary of the St. Matthew's Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend McKinley Rice is the gracious host and Reverend Leroy Crawford, Sr., Pastor of Northwest Chapel Baptist Church will officiate.
The Final Salute for Bob will be on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 12:30 PM in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. The funeral cortege will assemble at the funeral home at 11:00 AM and will depart at 11:15 AM.
