Robert Earl Gaines, Jr. was born on December 8, 1943, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was the first child of Robert Earl Gaines, Sr. and Annetta Edwards Gaines.

He was a happy child who loved the outdoors, thus learning how to play golf, as well as other sports. He was baptized at an early age by the Rev. O.C. Burrow, Pastor of Holbert Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He attended Dunbar Elementary School and Douglas High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma, graduating with the Class of 1962. After graduating from high school, Robert enlisted in Basic training for the United States Air Force in Big Springs, Texas. His training led him to Saigon, Vietnam, where he served his country for a tour of duty.

After completion of his tour in Vietnam, he returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to be near his mother and his siblings. He decided that e wanted to work part-time outdoors. He was as a Mechanical Supervisor throughout the city of Tulsa, until he finally retired. On February 5, 2019, Robert Jr., as his siblings called him, answered the call to "Come Home!" He is dwelling in the secret place of the Most High, where he is now abiding under the shadow of the Almighty!

He leaves to cherish his memory: one sister, Joyce Elaine Gaines of Tulsa, OK; two brothers, Dewayne Gaines of Atlanta, GA, and David Gaines of Madison, WI; three nieces, Courtney Gaines, Alecia (Muff) Gaines, and Rayla Gaines, all of Tulsa, OK; one great-nephew, Bralen Gaines of Tulsa, OK; two great-nieces, Raigan Gaines and Nyla Gaines, both of Tulsa, OK; five cousins, Frank Gordon Mcdonald of Arkansas, Alvin R. Mcdonald of Tulsa, OK, Norris Gene Benson of Lawton, OK, Betty Marie Roberts of Tulsa, OK, and Tommie Lee Thompson of Ardmore, OK; and a host of other cousins and friends. His parents and three siblings preceded him in death. We will surely miss Robert Jr.

Services for Mr. Robert Earl Gaines, Jr. will be Saturday February 16, 2019 at 2PM at the  Keith D. Biglow Funeral Director's, Inc. All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Friends  may visit Mr. Gaines on Friday from 5PM until 7PM in The Tulsa Chapel.
