On the 3rd day of January, during the winter of 1942 a baby boy was born to Mack and Mildred Sample. They name this newborn Robert Lee Sample, affectionately known as “Bob”. Robert grew up in the New Hope community and was Baptized by the late Reverend. W.E. McGill.

Mr. Sample attended school in New Hope until the 8th grade, then transitioned to Debois High School for one year and later finishing at Historic Manuel Training High School, where he graduated with the Mighty Class of 1960.

After moving to Tulsa, he met a lovely young lady, Beverly Ann Wells. They were smitten with each other, fell in love and were united in holy matrimony. From this union, their love was blessed with four children; Dinisha, Robert Jr., Marcus, and Karen.

Robert loved to hunt, fish, barbeque, yardwork, playing with Grandchildren, let us not forget farming and messing with his cows. He worked at Tulsa Lien (supervisor), KFC (Manager), Professional Welder, Brown Bavaria for 19 years, and at John Zink where he was the Foreman/Head Welder, as well as the Instructor for new employees. 13 years later he Retired in 2003.

On February 5th, 2026 Robert Lee Sample, Transitioned from this life to Eternal rest with the Lord. He was welcomed with loving arms by his Parents, Mack and Mildred Sample, A son Marcus D. Sample, Sister Jessie Mae Sample, His two Brothers Mack Jr. and Edward Sample.

Robert leaves in God’s care to cherish his memories; His loving Wife of 62 years,, Beverly Sample; , His son Robert Jr. (Brooke) of Texas; 2 Daughters, Dinisha Crosslen (Wayne) of Tulsa, and Karen Hill (Frank) of Warner; His Siblings, Marvin, Bo, Leon, Betty, and Maxine; his Grandchildren, Calgary Smith, Jr. (Mary), Calvin Smith (Jimmie) , Micheal Ezell (Marilyn), Tekisha Ezell, Roshanna Grant, Andre, Ashley, Marcus, Jordan, Asia, Breanna, and a host of Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Robert Lee Sample Sr., will commence on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 2:00PM in the most holy sanctuary of New Hope Baptist Church in Oktaha, Oklahoma, where Pastor Michael Logan will officiate.

The Christian Committal will immediately follow the services in the New Hope Cemetery.
