"Reflection of a Beautiful Lady"
Roberta Delores was the fourth and youngest bundle of joy born to the union of Buford Barker and Willie Ruff on October 12, 1928 in Grayson, Oklahoma. Upon completion of high school, she met and married Sherman Leon Samuel. To this union, three children were born. Robert later married Jesse Hardy. This union produced six children.
Roberta was a hard working and dedicated wife, and mother. She made sure her family had a strong spiritual foundation. Roberta joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she was active in the Missionary Society, hospitality and cooking committee, and choir. She served as choir president for many years. Roberta was known for her singing and cooking. She loved to bake, and was the best cook on this side of Heaven!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Hardy, her parents, daughter LeAnna, son Donald Ray Hardy, sisters: Vivian Scott Crispard, and Hattie Marie Barker, granddaughter Talesa Samuel and great-granddaughter Ashley Hopkins.
Remaining to cherish her precious memories: four sons: Alvin, Jesse, Robert and Marcus, three daughters: Shirley, Sandra and Mary, two daughters-in law: Kathy and Mary, 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, one brother, Arthur Dillingham (Iceola), one aunt, Mary Flippings, a special nephew, Alfred Hill, two special friends: Bernice Stafford, and Lucell Harper, and one she had a hand in raising, Ross Davis, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Final Tribute for Mrs. Roberta Delores Hardy will be conducted on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at 11AM at St. John Baptist Church in Tulsa.
Friends may view her in peaceful repose on Tuesday from 12Noon until 7PM inside the All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa.
