The "baby" of the family was welcomed into the McBride family by Doris Lee and Randel L. McBride on March 22, 1965, when Rolanda Joyce arrived in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Better known as "Ro" to all who knew her, she grew up and spent most of her life in Muskogee.
As a child, she always enjoyed combing her doll's hair, which blossomed into her career as one of the city's Hair Stylist most of her life. She operated "Designs by Ro" and was gifted at her craft.
"Ro" attended Muskogee Public Schools, where she graduated with the Class of 1983. She then matriculated to Langston University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1988.
She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and developed a great love for Sunday School like her father. She was a Sunday School Teacher and never missed an opportunity to share her love for the Lord.
The "baby" of the family was welcomed into Paradise suddenly on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and other relatives.
She leaves in God's care: a brother she loved dearly, Christopher Allen McBride, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her "big sisters" Thelma A. McBride, Long Beach, California and Lydia "Liddie" McBride, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her niece, Shanae McBride, Lawton, Oklahoma; along with a host of other family members and very dear, special friends remaining to cherish her special memory.
The Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Saint Mark Baptist Church. Reverend Rodger Cutler, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
You may visit Rolanda, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 AM until 6 PM.
