IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Edward
Billings
March 7, 1946 – January 18, 2025
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Ronald Edward "Ronnie B" Billings, a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend who lived a life rooted in service, love, and unwavering loyalty.
Ronnie was born on March 7, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas to Willie Sr. and Amelia Billings. The family would later return to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he grew up and spent his life surrounded by family and the community of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. There, under the pastorship of Rev. Lee D. Moore, he accepted Christ at an early age.
A proud graduate of the historic Manual Training High School, Class of 1965, Ronnie's life was a testament to his selflessness. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army. Once he completed basic training and four additional months of training in Automotive Repair at the U.S. Army Ordnance Center and School, he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, during the Vietnam War. As a supply truck driver, he traveled through Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France, and other European countries, ensuring American soldiers received the critical supplies they needed. His time in service reflected his sense of duty, and he was awarded the following honors: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge.
After returning from the Army, Ronnie pursued his education at Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training. However, family came first in his heart. When his father's health declined, he made the noble decision to return home and help care for his father. During this time, he became employed at Corning Glass Works, and his devotion continued as he lovingly cared for his mother until her passing, demonstrating the depth of his character and the strength of his heart.
Ronnie was a man of many talents and passions. He loved tinkering with and giving old cars a second life. If you needed a ride, he was going to show up – though you had to accept the condition of the car he picked you up in. Sometimes, that meant riding in a car with quirks, like no floorboards, but you were going to get where you needed to go.
Saturdays and some weekdays you often found him at auctions hunting for treasures to resell, always with an eye for the next big score. What truly set him apart, though, was his gift for storytelling. Initially a quiet observer, he would light up any room with his laughter and captivating stories once he felt at ease. His warmth and humor created bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Ronnie also had a special love for dancing. To see him on the dance floor was to witness pure joy. His energy and moves brought laughter and smiles to everyone around him, making those moments unforgettable for all who shared them.
A loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan, his loud cheers and jabs could fill a room and bring people together. But above all, his greatest joy was his family. Ronnie was the rock everyone could count on. He never hesitated to lend a hand or show up in your time of need. His love was unconditional, and his support unwavering.
Early in the night of Saturday, January 18, 2025, Ronald E. Billings, in his 78th year of life, "put on immortality" and transitioned to be with his ancestors in eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David Billings and Kenneth Billings.
Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is celebrated and honored by his daughters, Angelia Carter-Lee and Camisha Carter-Hill (Will); his grandchildren, Camryn Carter, Amari Carter, Xavier Robinson, and Kenric Lee Jr., his sisters, Shirley Robinson, Sandra Toomer (Johnny), Cleada Billings, and Barbara Ross; his brothers, Willie Billings Jr., Donald Billings (Stacy), Gerald Billings (Ivy), and John Billings (Tina), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
While our hearts ache with his loss, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the stories he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the countless lives he touched. His legacy of love, service, and devotion will remain forever in our hearts.
Rest well, Ronnie B. You were deeply loved, and we will carry your memory forever.
