Obituary

Ronald Roy Shelton (Bug) was born on July 9, 1944 to Isaiah "Buster" Shelton and Evelyn (Davis) Shelton in Boley, Oklahoma. He was one of eight children born to this union.

Ronald attended Boley High School and graduated class of 1963.

Ronald loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and yard work. He found peace outdoors and would spend hours working in the yard. Ronald also enjoyed company. Ronald had a big heart and supported his community and those in need. He was known to literally share the shirts off his back. Ronald was a hard worker, and always told his son, Christopher Shelton, "Learn how to work with your head as well as your hands, and you will always have a job." Another favorite quote of Ronald's was, "As a man thinketh, so is he." Ronald loved to work in areas he enjoyed. He truly lived his life by his own terms, and was happy and dedicated to what he loved doing.

Ronald met the love of his life, Francis Shelton (Marzett) as a young man. Francis started "really liking" Ronald in High School. They solidified their union on January 20, 1967. Ronald and Francis remained married for 57 years. Through this union Ronald and Francis Shelton have a daughter, Sonya Shelton. Ronald also has a son, Christopher Shelton. Christopher and Sonja were both very close to their father, and displayed his infectious laugh, humor, and smile every time they interacted. Ronald was affectionately known as Bug. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that believed in the foundation of family and hard work. Ronald understood hard work was important, but he also embraced time. It was necessary for him to enjoy what he was doing and enjoy life. He embraced life and each moment he had to spend with those he loved and cherished. He would always talk about Francis and lovingly referred to her as "my wife" Ronald never had to explain who "my wife" was. They were inseparable and spent almost all their time together loving each other's company. Francis would call "Bug!" and Ronald would set up in his seat for further instruction. Just as Ronald would call "Honey" and Francis would respond just as lovingly.

Ronald loved to talk about his work with this mother. He started out working in the peanut fields and the yard work he would pick up while on the road with his mother. Ronald had unlimited stories to share. Many times, he left you either laughing or trying to control your laugh. He did not mind speaking what was on his mind, or how loud he said it.

Ronald also loved his five grandchildren and treated the children of Boley like family. His grandchildren loved to come spend time with him during the summer and work the hardware store. They fondly referred to Ronald as "Pawpaw." He has definitely left a Shelton legacy in his laugh, stories, and as a business owner in Boley.

Ronald was preceded in death by both of his parents and his siblings, Wilbert, Winford, Asalene, Viola, Theola, and Sylvia. He is survived by his wife, Francis Shelton; children, Sonya Shelton and Christopher Shelton (Catherine); his grandchildren, Dominique, Desiree, Frankie, Jasmine, Raynova, and a host of nieces and nephews.
