Mrs. Roseann Robinson, after 76 seasons of life, surrendered her soul to Jesus on Teusday, March 12, 2013 from her home in Checotah, Oklahoma.
Rose Ann was born on January 31, 1937 in Checotah, Oklahoma from the
union of Ada Woodfork and Isiah Gaines. However, she was raised by
William Cooksey and Leonard Morris. Rose Ann attended Checotah High
School, but graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri.
In 1955, she met and married Robert Hunt and their union produced two
children, Verma and Ivan. In 1966, she met and married Lamar Robinson
and their union produced a daughter, Regina. Rose Ann moved to
Evanston, Illinois in 1968 with her children. She worked as one of the
first black loan officers at teh 1st National Bank of Evanston,
continuing there until 1978. Then, she worked at G. D. Searle
Pharmaceuticals as a Production Manager until 1986.
She was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Evanston
for many years. In 1997, she moved back to Checotah, where she resided
until her death. Rose Ann was an active member of Eastside First
Baptist Church, where she attended bible study and also sang in the
Choir. She loved life and lover her family.
Rose Ann leaves to cherish her memory; her Aunt, Wanda Reed, of
Evanston, Illinois; her step-father, Leonard Morris, of Clearview,
Oklahoma; her three children, Verma Hunt, Chicago, Illinois, Ivan
Hunt, Kansas City, Missouri and Regina Robinson, Las Vegas, Nevada;
four grandchildren, Shereenah Hunt, Jamrah Hunt, Morgan Bates and
Sydney Bates; a great-grandson, Gavin; her brother, Lawrence; her
sisters, Joe Ann and Buela; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews,
other relatives and church family as well as friends.
The Hour of Remembrance will be shared on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 12 Noon in the Eastside First Baptist Church of Checotah. Pastor Bertha Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Warrior Cemetery, west of the City.
