A Life of Legacy and Love
Roshanta Croshell Thomas
A Time to Be Born
Roshanta Croshell Thomas was born to the parentage of Louis and Ollie Ruth Kemp on February 19, 1968 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She loved the city of Wewoka and was very involved in community events, supporting the local sports teams and volunteering to serve the residents of Wewoka, She resided there until her passing.
A Time to Learn
Her early formative school education was completed in the Wewoka Elementary and Middle Schools. She successfully matriculated through New Lima High School and graduated with the class of 1986.
A Time to Love
Roshanta met and married Lloyd Lesley Thomas in October of 1993. The blending of these two hearts together also lead to the blending of the hearts of seven wonderful children. Roshanta and Lloyd shared 24 wonderful years together. The bond, love and friendship that they shared was special and one of a kind.
A Time to Serve
Roshanta accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. Her main mission in life was to tell others about the Love of Christ. She served diligently under the leadership of Superintendent Herman Huffman at Huffman Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ (COGIC) for 18 years. There she served as the Adjunct to Mother Corine Huffman, Jurisdictional Supervisor, Oklahoma Northwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional; State and District Sunshine Band President and Music President for Huffman Pentecostal Temple.
When her faithful husband was called to Pastor New Generation Community Church COGIC on February 19, 2012, a new element of servanthood began. Roshanta served in multiple capacities throughout the church with her husband and pastor. She was not only the First Lady of New Generation but the guiding force to their ministry.
She stood by her husband/pastor as he sought to build God's Kingdom one family at a time. She served as the Sunshine Band and Purity Teacher as well as the Praise and Worship Leader. She was a humble servant and no task was beneath her.
A Time to Work
Roshanta's second love was children. She began her tenure in the Wewoka School District in October of 2009 and served for 8 years in multiple areas to include substitute teacher, teacher's assistant, secretary and ISD High School teacher. Mrs. Thomas, as she was affectionately known throughout the halls of Wewoka Elementary, Middle and High School, left a legacy of learning, love, encouragement and discipline. Mrs. Thomas' name and her quotes were infamous. Wewoka school students could be heard in the halls saying, "I love you and there's nothing you can do about it", "Let me drop something in your spirit", "Now Honey Boo", "You are blessed, healed and highly favored, better than you deserve and empowered to prosper in the Lord." "It's going to be a great day all day and nothing missing and nothing broken" and "We do things decently and in order."
Roshanta would have been going into her 4 th year at Wewoka High School where she served her community as a resource for both students and teachers. She was always pushing students and helping them see their true potential. She encouraged students to apply for scholarships, pursue higher education and plan for their future. Her time at Wewoka High School left an indelible impression on the entire school district and community.
Roshanta wore another hat in the area of business. She was instrumental in the establishment of Unique Creative Design which is still in operation. She served as co-owner and oversaw the financial aspect of the business.
