Roy Chester Bagby arrived in Clarksville, Texas at 9:00 A.M. on September 11, 1936, from the loving union of Samuel and Ida [Ingram] Bagby. Roy spent the majority of his life in Preston, Oklahoma, where he attended Douglas School.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and worked to provide for his family in the construction industry.
He met Ruthie Mae Gibson, who became his wife of Fifty-Three years. Their union was blessed with three children, which produced eleven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Chester was known for his beautiful landscaping in his yard. When he did not feel good enough in his body to tend to his garden, he would take a chair with him, so when he would get tired, he could rest for awhile, then go right back to work. He was also well known for Bagby's Best Bar-B-Q sauce.
After Seventy-four years, Roy Chester Bagby, with his loving family near, surrendered his soul to Jesus on Saturday afternoon, January 1, 2011 from his home in Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Sammie Chappell and Juanita Mann; and two brothers, Ralph Bagby and Randolph Bagby.
