Obituary

On December 26, 1951, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, a baby boy was born to Samantha (Wilson) Jefferson and Robert Jefferson, Sr. Roy was educated at Dunbar school in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He left school early and later joined the U.S. Army. After returning home, he began traveling as a scaffolding worker.

Roy loved spending time with his family and friends. During his free time, Roy enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also spent his summer months selling watermelons under the shade tree. Roy had such a passion for fishing that he celebrated his mother's birthday every June with a fish fry for the entire family. Roy also built quite a family with the Creek Nation. He would often jokingly say "it is time for me to go clock in at work", we all knew that meant he was heading to the casino for fun and game time. He was well loved by them and they all knew him by name.

Roy "Big Roy" Edward Jefferson was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He left his earthly home after a courageous fight on November 14, 2021 at the age of 69.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Robert Jefferson; mother, Samantha Jefferson; brothers, Robert (Bob) Jefferson, Alfred L. Jefferson and Clyde Jefferson; sisters, Rosie L. (Jefferson) Talton; son, Roy Edward Jefferson Jr.

Roy leaves to cherish his memory: four sons, Brian Parker of Oklahoma City; Troy Jefferson of Tulsa, Demaine Mayes of Tulsa, Christopher Mayes of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Gloria Knox of Tulsa, Joy Jefferson of Tulsa, and Crystal Jefferson of Tulsa; brothers, Charles Jefferson of Okmulgee, Harold (Nikki) Jefferson of Tulsa, and Robert (Mary Ann) Jefferson of Okmulgee; sisters, Verna J.
