Mr. Roy Teague, Jr., in his 70th year, transitioned from life to everlasting on Sunday morning, May 22, 2011 from Muskogee.
It all began on January 17, 1941, when Roy Teola and Juanita [Miller] Teague celebrated the first born of nine children from their loving union in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was named Roy Teola Teague, Jr.
Roy received his childhood education from Langston Elementary school, then Sadler Jr. High School before graduation from Historic Manual Training High School with the Class of 1959. While at Manual, he was a member of the Manual High School Band.
Also affectionately referred to as "Uncle Dump" or "Roy Jr." by family and friends, Mr. Teague was well known throughout Muskogee. He married Tiny Diane Davis and their marriage produced three children. This marriage was later dissolved, but they remained close and loving friends until her death.
Roy worked for Muskogee General Hospital and Matthews Grocery Store for many years. He later owned and operated Matthews Grocery. Mr. Teague also worked many years for Fansteel Metals as a furnace operator. After his "retirement," Mr. Teague assisted many throughout the community by helping with odd jobs repairing and fixing homes, remodels, or whatever was needed that he could handle. He also worked part-time as an Attendant at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., greeting friends at the funeral home and driving when needed.
Mr. Teague was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Juanita Teague, Sr., his dear uncle, Nathaniel [Uncle Goober] Miller, his dear brother, Kenny Teague, his dear friend, Tiny Teague and his nephews, Otis Payne and DeShawn Teague.
He leaves a tremendous, loving family; his children, Roy A. Teague, Michelle [Derrick] Thompson and Gerri Lynn Teague; his siblings, Lillian McVay, Wayne [Barbara] Teague, Janice Teague, Merle Allen, Pamela Payne, Jerry Teague and Tonya [Richard] Brooks; nine grandchildren, Aaron [Rhonda], Nina, Justin, Alexia [Kasey], Jerrod, Antoine, Rasha, Sabryan and Rayvnn; nine great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jayden, Cyerra, Jaila, Kennedi, Jerrod, Denise, Chloe and JiAnn; along with a caravan of other relatives and many friends that will cherish his memory.
The Farewell for Roy will commence on Saturday morning, May 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Saint Mark Baptist Church, 1020 S. 2nd Street. Reverend Richard Brooks, Pastor of Evangelist Temple Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery.
