Mr. Roy E. LeBlanc, after "fourscore and one years", whispered "peace, be with you" for the last time on Saturday, November 14, 2009, in his own way.
Mr. LeBlanc was born in Boynton, Oklahoma on March 29, 1928, the son of Charles and Eyola [Nonette] LeBlanc.
He grew up and attended school in Boynton, an alumni of Wheatley School.
He was a faithful member of Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church in Okmulgee, where he served on the Maintenance Committee and the Finance Committee.
Mr. LeBlanc was a welder by trade, but was a very successful Entrepreneur during his life.
He was instrumental in organizing and beginning the Okmulgee Colored Rodeo in 1956, which has grown to one of the most popular, annual events in Okmulgee History.
Roy was very active in the community, serving on the School Board in Okmulgee during integration, also a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of Okmulgee County Round-up Club, EODD, and the Community Chamber of Commerce.
He leaves to lament his death; his wife, Vivian, of the home in Okmulgee; his sons, Clarence & Michelle LeBlanc, Kenneth & Letisha LeBlanc and Tim LeBlanc & Mindy Underwood, all of Okmulgee, Gary & Ronyee LeBlanc, Oklahoma City, and Juan & Sarah Foster, Desoto, Texas; his daughters, Margie & Harold Factory, Vickie & Jerry Motte, Valerie Wright & Robert Factory, and Karen & Larry Moore, all of Oklahoma City; his sister, Easter LeBlanc, Okmulgee; 23 grandchildren; a caravan of great-grandchildren; other relatives and many, many friends.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Anthony Catholic Church. Father Benjamin Vima, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Southwest Cemetery in Okmulgee.
A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7 PM in the Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church.
