Obituary
Roy Lee Moses, Jr., 74, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, departed this life on November 23, 2023.
Roy was born on June 9, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, to Roy Lee Moses, Sr. (deceased), and Mildred Moses. The family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1951 where he went to Bunche Elementary, Anderson Middle School, and then completed his high school education at Central High School. Roy continued his education at Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College (NEO), and University of Oklahoma. At NEO, he became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. with the Zeta Upsilon Chapter.
Roy was a lifelong active member of the Morning Star Baptist Church, where he served in many roles and positions. Some of his proudest moments were serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, in the Men's Chorus, and the Brotherhood Ministry, with his most cherished accomplishment being serving as an associate pastor at Morning Star Baptist Church.
In 1973, Roy met the love of his life, Sandra Moses (deceased), and from this union they had three children. He began a career in the banking industry and swiftly matriculated to branch manager of the Sooner Federal Savings and Loans Bank in the Springdale shopping center. Roy was active in his community, where he served on the board with the Theatre North Organization and along with other major organizations, he was instrumental in the development of the North Pointe complex, located at Pine and Cincinnati. As a true bible scholar and always in the pursuit of education, he completed his Master's and obtained his Ph.D in Theology in 2018.
Roy later married Deborah Atkins in 2019, where they were able to share their love, until his passing. Deborah was Roy's latest inspiration, like their favorite song " You're my Latest Greatest Inspiration" by Teddy Pendergrass. In their marriage they enjoyed fishing, traveling, and family.
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Lee Moses; father, Roy Lee Moses, Sr.; and brothers, Donald Moses and Bryan Moses.
He was survived by: mother, Mildred Moses; wife, Deborah Moses; sisters, Linda Gray and Terri Moses; children, Ebony Moses, Brodney Moses, and Catrina Ingram (Charles Ingram IV); grandchildren, Raven, Sakiyah, Canyon, Camryn, Caidyn, Cori, Charles, Caleb, Coby, and Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
