Ruby received her education from Grambling High School in Louisiana, Slater High School near Idabel, Oklahoma and ultimately Historic Manual Training High School in Muskogee. She took the State Board Exam and obtained a Beautician's License.
After moving to Oklahoma, she met and married Devoy Hill, Sr., in February of 1939. Their loved produced 5 children. The family relocated to Muskogee in 1942.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. While dating her husband, their dates were always to church functions. She remained on the Battlefield for a mighty long time. After moving to Muskogee, she joined St. Mark Baptist Church, but in 1948, she became a member of Rayfield Baptist Church, where she remained faithful until her death. She loved her pastor and wife as well as the entire Rayfield Family.
She worked as a beautician mostly, but loved her favorite job, as a Show Window Decorator for Susman's Department STore.
Mrs. Hill served the Lord by doing Mission work and attended all types of church conventions. She loved birthday parties, family reunions and traveling with her daughters and other family members. She also loved walking and would wear all of her walking buddies out.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 9 siblings and a daughter, Linda.
She leaves in God's care; her son, Reverend Devoy [Elverna] Hill, Jr., Belton, Missouri; her daughters, Alice Faye Adams and Edna Mae Hill, both of Muskogee and Pamela Kay Hill, Dallas, Texas; a brother, T. J. "Jess" [Iodest] Jones, Muskogee; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great-greatgrandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.
