Ruby Alice Mae Doxey was born on June 18, 1954 to Lee Lewis and Georgia Davenport. She was raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma by Alfred and Georgia Thompson and became a Christian at an early age.
Ruby attended Dunbar and Douglas School as well as the Historic Manual Training High School, where she was a majorette in the band and graduated with the proud Class of 1972. After graduation, she worked at Sonic Drive In and later served as a secretary for several law firms in the Muskogee area.
In 1973, she married William "Bill" Doxey and from this union, three beautiful daughters were born; Tiffany, Diana and Rochelle. Ruby was a dedicated mother who loved to cook and spend time with her children and grand children. She was also known for her story telling and love for finishing and for making people laugh. She was known to her siblings as "Dorian."
God called his beloved Angel home to Glory on Thursday, April 12, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Lewis, her mother, Georgia Thompson, Alfred Thompson, Sr., her step-father, Archie Lewis and Lee Lewis, her Brothers, along with her grandson, Martinez Owens, Jr.
Mrs. Doxey leaves in God's care; three daughters, Tiffany Doxey, Kansas City, Missouri, Diana Doxey, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rochelle Doxey, Kansas City, Missouri; her sisters, Patricia Clemons, Cynthia Daniels, Kathy Anderson, Sheri Mitchum, Mary Lewis and Cathy Lewis; her brothers, Alfred Thompson, Jr., and Aaron Lewis; her grandchildren, Christian Doxey, Bryant Doxey, Brandon Hill, Ronshe' Doxey, alyric Owens, Christoher, Devon, and Aaliyah; her special friend, Eugene Bert Cheater; along with a host of great-aunts, and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many friends who all loved her very much.
The final hour will be on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Dean's Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Don Dumas will preside. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
