Obituary

Ruby Lee Curry was born to the proud parents of Hattie Lee Curry and Amos Ruben Curry, Sr., on July 30, 1944 in Seattle, Washington. The family later moved back to their hometown of Red Bird, Oklahoma, where Ruby grew up and lived for most of her childhood.

She attended Miller Washington School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Red Bird, then went on to Porter High School.

After graduating from high school, Ruby moved to Tulsa, where she lived most of her adult life. She also lived in St. Louis, Missouri and Omaha, Nebraska before returning to Tulsa in 1969.

Ruby was blessed with three children; Angela Rose Curry, William Fowler, III and Vanessa Andrea Curry. While raising her children, Ruby worked as a Sales Clerk and was employed by Safeway Stores for 27 years. She was well known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.

In 2002, she married Reverend Elbert Norris Moore, Sr., and moved to Okmulgee. With Reverend Moore, she became a member of the NAACP and joined Northwest Chapel Baptist Church, where she was an active member. She enjoyed participating in community events, church programs and missions until her health began to fail in 2005.

On February 19, 2007, after a long fight, Ruby answered God's call and chose to walk with Angels, as they led her to Glory, so that she may find eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Patricia Curry Cook and a brother, Amos Curry, Jr.

In addition, five step-children, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
