Obituary

Ruth Nell Fultz was born on February 4, 1942 in Beggs, Oklahoma, to John Fultz, Sr., and Wilma [Brinkley] Fultz. She was the sixth of eleven children in the family. Ruth accepted Christ at an early age and united with Shorter Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

She graduated from Historic Dunbar High School with the Class of 1960 in Okmulgee. Ruth later attended Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, pursuing nursing. After a year of college, she married her high school sweetheart, Oscar Henry Robinson, II on July 10, 1961. To this union, three children were born. Oscar Henry Robinson, III, Orick Henri Robinson and Raithiele Jon Robinson.

Ruth and Oscar joined the Peace Corp after he graduated from Langston University. They both attended Minnesota University to prepare for their Peace Corp tour of duty in Pakistan. She moved to Gardena, California in 1964 and Oscar joined her in California after completion of his Peace Corp tour of duty. In California, she attended both California State University in Long Beach, California and Compton Junior College in Compton, California while working for the telephone company and in the banking industry. In the late 1980's, she was employed with the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked in multiple capacities; her last as an Advocate until medically retiring in April of 2003.

Ruth truly loved her family and friends. She was known to have relatives and neighborhood kids over to her house in California for swimming in the back yard, where she would provide food, make home-made ice cream and entertainment, too. She was also known for her Mexican food, burritos and enchiladas, her German Chocolate and Carrot cakes "from scratch" during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays by both relatives and friends. In addition, she also had a stamp on Soul Food, including greens, sweet potato pies, beef oxtails and home made cornbread.

On September 26, 2016, Ruth Nell Fultz Robinson departed this earthly life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Melvin and Lyndell "Pete", a sister, Donna "Tiny" and her eldest son, Oscar.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, Orick and Raithiele, both of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; her granddaughter, Aaliyah Renee Robinson, Okmulgee; her sisters, Johnnie Mae Rice, Soboba, California, Mary Brown, Long Beach, California, Gladys Turner, Los Angeles, California, Debra Davis, Lynwood, California, and Brenda Hickmon, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; her brothers, John and Kenneth Fultz, both of Okmulgee; along with other relatives and friends.
