A daughter was born to Johna and Helen Pope on August 24, 1943 in South Carolina. They named their baby girl Ruth Helen.

Ruth attended school in Okmulgee and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa.

In 1960, she married the love of her life, Emery Metcalf, Jr.

At an early age, she joined the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Allaman. She served the Lord faithfully playing the piano, singing in the Church Choir and teaching Youth Sunday School.

In her 62nd year, Ruth Helen Metcalf surrendered to the Will of God on Saturday morning, May 6, 2006 in Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Helen and Thomas Webb and a brother, Wesley Ross.

Remaining to always cherish her memory; her children, Kenny and Pam, Pamela Riley, Terry and Brenda, all of Okmulgee and Steve and Mia, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a sister, Gloria Saddler, Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Metcalf, Jr., Sherrell Metcalf, Brittanie Riley, Dallas Metcalf, Terry Metcalf, Jr., Kennedy Metcalf, Myles Metcalf; a great-granddaughter, Keirsten Metcalf; three nieces, Micole Owens, Michelle Hunter, and Felicia Brinkley; two nephews, Clarence and Jory Owens; along with other relatives and friends.

The tribute will be on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Peace at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery at Haskell, Oklahoma. You may visit Ms. Metcalf on Wednesday from 10 AM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
