Samantha [ Douglas ] Porter was born near Beggs, Oklahoma on April 15, 1926 from the union of Mary Ella [Gresham]Douglas and Melvin Bradford. She was affectionately known to her family as "Lina," and was the sixth of eleven children born in the family.

Samantha was reared in Hoffman, Oklahoma. She attended and graduated from the Historic Grayson Public School District. During her high school years, she met and married the love of her life, Lincoln Watson Porter, Sr. From this union, five children were born. Samantha and Lincoln were baptized and raised their children at Eastside Baptist Church in Okmulgee. She remained a faithful member at Eastside until her death.

After "Four-score and Eight Years," Samantha A. Porter dozed into the peaceful rest of eternal slumber. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln, her parents, nine brothers and sisters, a son, Cecil Ray, a great-granddaughter, K'he'ara Lynn, and a son-in-law, Credell Jackson, Sr.

She leaves in God's care; four children, Brenda [Tracy] Morgan, Plano, Texas, Wayne Porter and Gail Jackson, both of Okmulgee and Lincoln Porter, Jr., Grand Prairie, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Nicole Jackson, Credell Jackson, Jr., Anthony Jackson, Candice Jackson, Kevin Porter, Quantel Porter, Tameka Simon, Tony and Tracy Simon, Samantha Gail Morgan, Brianna Morgan and Tracy Morgan, Jr.; she is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The Sacred Farewell to Mrs. Porter will commence on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the most Holy sanctuary of the Eastside Baptist Church. Reverend Marcus Jeffrey, Pastor will Preside and Reverend Racilus Douglas, Jr., will deliver the Eulogy.

Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
