Mr. Sammie Tucker Hairston was born on November 11, 1957, in Flint, Michigan the eldest son of Sam Tucker and Mary Hairston. Sammie transitioned from this earthly life Monday, February 12, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sammie graduated from Flint Northwestern High School with the class of 1975. Following graduation, Sammie gained employment through Sears-Roebucks as a salesman in the men's department. In 1976, Sammie gained employment, through Fisher Body, a division of General Motors.

In the summer of 1984, Sammie met the love of his life, Renee' Antoinette Cunningham. The two wed May 19, 1986, in Flint, Michigan. In the early 1990s, Sammie and family embarked on a new journey to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he resided until his untimely departure.

Sammie spent the rest of his able life as a construction technician. A man of many talents, there was not much he could not do or would not try at least once. A hardworking man who loved The Lord, Sammie enjoyed watching his Golden State Warriors and Kansas City Chiefs. If not watching sports, you could catch him cracking jokes or watching westerns. Most importantly, his happiness revolved around the well- being and livelihood of his family.

Sammie leaves to cherish: wife of 37 years, Renee A. Hairston; son Richard Cunningham (Tulsa, OK); three daughters: Usheika (Willie) McClain (Tulsa, OK), Vackysha (Dwayne) Langston (Flint, MI) and Aurielle (Courtney) Sango (Broken Arrow, OK); six grandchildren: Kyla Cunningham, Sydney Cunningham, Ke'Anna Ruby, Kharie Mitchell, Nasiya Langston, and Richard D. Cunningham; four great grandchildren: sister, Patricia Hairston (Flint, MI); two brothers: Willie Hairston (Broken Arrow, OK) and Dennis Hairston (Flint, MI); sisters in law, Evelyn Cunningham (Tulsa, OK), Patricia Cunningham (Flint, MI), Sheila (Walter) Walker (Flint, MI) and Diahann McCarty (Muskegon, MI); brother in law, Carl Cunningham (Tulsa, OK), Auntie Hattie Hairston and Auntie Ella Mae Bransford of Flint, MI as well as a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Sammie was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Mary Hairston; sisters, Mildred Mary Hairston, Denise Hairston-Armon and brother-in-law, Jimmie Cunningham III. A special thanks to Evelyn Cunningham, Sammie's personal caregiver and Freda Davis, case manager.

Mr. Sammie Tucker Hairston, after 66 years, departed this life for Life Everlasting on Monday evening, February 12, 2024  in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Celebration of Life for Sammie will commence on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the All Faiths Chapel of Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. - Tulsa Chapel.

You may visit Mr. Hairston, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home in Tulsa on Friday, between the hours of 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
