Samuel Frederick Cotton II was born on January 3, 1939 to Isaac and Ester (Braxton) Cotton at Cook County Hospital in Chicago Illinois. He attended Grammar and High School in South Haven, Michigan. Upon his return to Chicago, Illinois he enlisted in the US Army in 1953 where he obtained his High School Diploma. He then Attended College while in the Armed Forces in London, England and obtained a Bachelor's Degree. Throughout his life time, He obtained three Bachelor Degrees and was currently attending College to obtain a degree in Horticulture.
Upon his return from war in 1962 he met and married Janice Brown and from that union bore three children Linda (Cotton) Bailey, Lynn (Cotton) Nesbitt, and Lori (Cotton) Ganier.
He then met and married Jacquelyne Turner and from that union he gained two children and bore two children Tina (Berryhill) Johnson [Derek], Stanley Berryhill, Jacquelyne C. (Cotton) Williams, and Samuel F. "Ricky" Cotton III [Edeleen].
Later Samuel met Patricia Wilkins and from their relationship they bore a son Cameron JC Carrington.
Finally Samuel met and married Anna Alvarez, and to that union bore two sons Samuel F. "Little Sam" Cotton IV [Keyatta] and Antonio K. Cotton (Tony).
During his life Samuel worked in many fields. He enlisted in the US Army three separate times. During his first term He fought in the Korean War; second term, he served as a Medic; His third term he served as a Para-trooper. In his civilian life he worked as a Chemist.
He was preceded in death by his Father Isaac Cotton, His mother Esther Cox, His son Maurice Starks, His brothers James Wilson Matthews, William Matthews, Robert Matthews, William Robert Cotton and Johnathan Cotton, and sisters Evelyn Cotton, and Elizabeth Cotton
During the morning of August 1st Samuel attempted to make a 9-1-1 call. He was found in his home on August 3rd, sitting peacefully in his couch. God had called him home. Ironically Samuel was preparing to go "home" to Chicago that day, bags packed and excited about his travels. Unaware that "home" was actually to "Glory!"He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters; Carolyn Frazier, Izetta Cooper, Barbara Lymore, and three brothers; Isaac T. Cotton II, Dennis Cotton, and Stephen Cox. His children: Lynn Nesbitt, Linda Bailey, Lori Ganier, Tina Johnson, Stanley Berryhill, Jacquelyne C. Williams, Samuel F. Cotton III, Cameron JC Carrington, Samuel F. Cotton IV, and Antonio K. Cotton. Samuel also leaves to cherish his memory his Grandchildren: Maurice II, Kelley, Nicole, Stephanie B., Staci, Jackie "Dion", Coleman, Liryk, Brianna, Isaiah, Zaynna, Tatianna, Stanley Jr., Alexis, Savaughn, Shamar, Romeo, Taraji, Darren, Keiarah, Stephanie S., Samuel "Sam-Sam", Jacquelyne-Nate', Tyler, Jalyssa, Samuel "Jelijah", Tramond, Xavier, Mya, Shelby, D'Angelo, Kedrick, Jalil, and A'Niyah, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces and nephews and other family members.
Memorial Services for Mr. Samuel F. Cotton, II will be Tuesday August 11, 2015 at 11AM inside Biglow's All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa.
