Sam "JB" Pointer, 72, of Tiger Mountain, Oklahoma passed peacefully on the morning of January 22nd, 2012 as a result of a long battle with Heart & Kidney failure. He was surrounded and supported by his family and caregivers by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord.
He was born to Beatrice and Samuel Pointer of Okmulgee, Oklahoma on March 14th, 1939. Sam attended Attucks Elementary School, Banneker Middle School, and Dunbar High School.
Sam better known too many as "JB" was a well-known and respected self-employed Brick and Rock Mason who performed work throughout the state of Oklahoma.
Sam met and married the love of his life Pauline Brinkley and to this union four beautiful children were born. In 1968 Sam decided to move his family to Tiger Mountain, Oklahoma.
A man with strong will and determination to provide for his family, JB felt this was the perfect place to raise his children; who all grew up to make their parents very proud.
Sam and Pauline continued to reside on Tiger Mountain for 44 years and would celebrate nearly 52 years of marriage.
To say that Sam was a people person & family man is an understatement, he never met a person that he didn't like and who in turn didn't like him. If asked how he was doing? He would often answer "I'm Still Kicking, but not too high. He was a trustworthy and fair man with a very loving heart and unwavering in his devotion as husband and father; always putting family first.
Sam loved attending Silver Springs Baptist Church where he rededicated his life to Christ and enjoyed worshipping with his church family.
A man of nature, Sam loved to hunt, fish and garden. His gardening skills allowed him to yield some of the biggest and best tasting vegetables in the area. His plants often produced more than the family could use and he took great pride in not being wasteful, so many friends and family members benefited from the fruits of his labour.
JB was preceded in death by his parents Beatrice and Samuel as well as his brother Lewis Pointer and his son Orlando Charles Pointer.
He is survived by his devoted wife Pauline Pointer; brother Aaron and Marion Pointer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and brother Bobby Pointer of Tiger Mountain, Oklahoma.
