Samuel Agyare McKenzie of Tulsa, OK passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. John's Hospital after a brave battle with lung cancer. He was born on June 3rd 1956 in Accra, Ghana and attended Aquinas Secondary school and Wesley Grammar High in Accra. He later attended Spartan College of Aeronautics in Tulsa and worked for American Airlines and then Whirlpool Corporation in Tulsa for the past 18 years.
Sam was an avid sports enthusiast and was a good soccer player for his high school and then played for the Ghana under 20 national team where he had the opportunity to travel across the continent. He played semi-pro soccer in Nigeria, second tier in Belgium and New York in the early 1980s.
He is survived by his son, Sam Andrew Agyare McKenzie Tulsa, OK. Sam Jr. grandmother Doris Jeffers, along with the mother of his children Andrea Thurman. He was a beloved son of late Janet Otoo Agyare of Accra and son of late Samuel Agyare. Sam also leaves to cherish his memory, his step-children Tamara, David, & Erick. Six grandchildren in which he loved so dearly and host of cousins, nieces and nephews, with a special niece Miracle Blyden. He was a brother of George Agyare of Avon, MA and caring sister of Christiana Agyare of Accra, Ghana. He was uncle of Araba Gyamfi, Joel Agyare Gyamfi of Baltimore, MD and Vicky Gyamfi-Harvey of Lincoln, Nebraska, Joshua Gyamfi, David Gyamfi, Janet Agyare, Daniella Agyare, Ruth Okine, Mercy Botchway, Deborah Gyamfi, Benjamin Gyamfi, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Andy Young and Lois Young of Accra, Ghana. He was the cousin of Francis Botchway, Joanna Botchway, Oloquaye Botchway all of Accra, Ghana.

Visiting hours in the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Home, 1414 North Norfolk, Tulsa on Wednesday, September 3rd from 4:00-7:00PM.

Funeral Services will be inside Biglow's All Faiths Chapel on Thursday, September 4 at 10:00AM. Friends and relatives are cordially invited.
