Ms. Sandra Drew McCleskey, a resident of Tulsa, but formely of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed from life to everlasting on Saturday, August 8, 2009 from Tulsa.
Born on December 29, 1961, in Haskell, Oklahoma, Sandra was the eight child born to the late Vernon T. Drew, Sr., and Pearline Grayson Drew. She was raised in Muskogee, growing up in "Reeves Addition" where she became a member of Bethel AME Church at an early age. She attended Muskogee Public Schools and Connors State College, where she earned her Associates Degree.
Sandra loved her family, church, reading, cooking and taking care of others, especially in times of crisis. She worked in various capacities during her lifetime and was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews for her great cooking skills and the fun times spent with them. She was affectionately referred to as "Auntie Mama" by her niece, A'Liyah.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Drew, Sr., She leaves to lament her passing; her daughter, Lorresha Jackson-Whittaker, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her mother, Pearline Pouncil, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her granddaughter, Tiaundra V. Porter; a special granddaughter, Clyesha Tarver; three brothers and their spouses, Jonathan and Liudmila Drew, Howard L. Drew, Sr., all of Norman, Oklahoma and Vernon and Gwen Drew, Jr., Frisco, Texas; seven sisters, Wanda Drew, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Marilyn Drew-Jones, Lawton, Oklahoma, Dianna Drew, Denver, Colorado, Donna and Dr. Rodney Brown, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lori Drew-Thompson, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chanell Drew and Lisa Drew, both of Muskogee; her Aunts, Dovie Azar, Los Angeles, California, Lee Ella Minor and Gloretha Grayson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a special Aunt, Elizabeht "Mama Liz" Duncan, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her Uncles, James Drew, Haskell, Oklahoma, Earl Grayson, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Clement Grayson, Kansas City, Missouri; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The final hour will be on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Beebe Memorial CME Church, 700 S. 7th Street in Muskogee. Rev. Aundrea Jones will officiate and Rev. Larry Pouncil, Eulogist. Burial will follow in Bald Hill Cemetery
