Obituary

Ms. Sharon R. Billings Matheny, in her 47th year, fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from her home in Muskogee.

Sharon Renee (Billings) Matheny also known as "NaeNae" was born on March 7, 1973 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Sandra Diane Billings and Willie Tate. She was lovingly raised by her devoted mother and stepfather, Sandra and Johnny Toomer.

Sharon "NaeNae" grew up in Muskogee where she attended both Muskogee and Tullahassee Public Schools and received her High School Diploma. Always striving to enhance herself and her skills, she completed several certification programs: Culinary Arts, Certified Nurse Assistant, Home Health Aide, and Habilitation Training Specialist. All certifications were awarded through the State of Oklahoma, where she was employed with various agencies throughout the state, finishing her career at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Canteen Services.

A true believer in Family First, she was the glue that bonded everyone together. Sharon met and married her high school sweetheart, Darryl Matheny. She loved being around her family and loved holiday and birthday celebrations. She was meticulous in every aspect of her daily life and took that same great care with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother; they were her world.

One of her pleasures was shopping, and she was "the Queen of Black Friday" and never missed an opportunity to use coupons. She also enjoyed watching HGTV, and you learned to love it, too, if you were at her house. She loved her favorite movie, Norbit.  She loved it so much, she would buy a new one every other month. At an early age, she attended Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, and returned to Greater Shiloh later in life.

After 47 years with us, Sharon Renee (Billings) Matheny left this life for a life eternal on Wednesday, September 02, 2020 from her home in Muskogee, where she was surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Tate; her brother Willie Tate Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Willie and Amelia Billings.

Sharon leaves in God's care her parents, Johnny and Sandra Toomer of Muskogee, OK; three sons, Ja'Corey (Christa who was like her own); Mekhi both of Muskogee, OK; and Larry of Tulsa, OK; and one daughter, Jy'Esha of Muskogee, OK. She also leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Maurice Yah (Nichole) of Greensboro, NC; Johnny Damond of Muskogee, OK; and three sisters, Shirlyn (Joel), Anissa, both of Muskogee, OK; and Catina of Arlington, Texas. Also, to cherish her memory are nine grandchildren; Jalynn, Ja'Corey Jr., Jaion, Ja'Var, Journee, Kamiah, Kameron, Khasi, and Jahdai. Special friends that were consistently by her side are Sandra Porter Givens, Natasha Alexander, NaKeisha Robinson, Terry McCrary and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
