Sheila Faye Ashley, in her 61st season of life, surrendered her soul on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from her home in Okay, Oklahoma
She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on September 21, 1951, the daughter of Rudolph and Juanita [Benson] Bridges, Sr. She grew up in Muskogee and while still a teenager, met a young man, Joseph Ashley in the fall of 1967 at Warehouse Market. Her sister, Juanell introduced them and it was love at first sight. With Stephanie on the way, they decided to get married and were united in Holy Matrimony on April 13,1968.
Their life's journey together took them from Okay, Oklahoma, to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Houston, Texas, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Fort Smith, Arkansas and eventually back to Okay, Oklahoma for retirement.
She leave's in God's care: her devoted husband, Joseph R. Ashley, Sr.; of the home in Okay; her children, Stephanie Ashley-Brown and husband, Ronnie, Joseph Ashley, Jr., and Donyel Ashley; her grandchildren, Lindsey Brown, Xavier Brown, Alesia Johnson, Jolee Johnson, Isaiah Ashley and Isaac Ashley; her great-grandchild, Adrielle Brown; her siblings, Brenda Motley, Maxine Bridges and Maurice Bridges; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends, who will forever cherish her memory.
A Graveside ceremony will be shared on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Evergreen Cemetery at Gibson Station, Oklahoma. Reverend Clarence Ashley will officiate.
