Obituary

On December 1, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a daughter was born to Fred Sutton and Viola [Brown] Simpson. Their second child, they named this precious baby girl, Sheila Ann Sutton.


Sheila was raised and educated in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Muskogee High School. She furthered her education by attending Connors State College, studying Criminal Law. Sheila worked for Tower HIll Nursing Home in Msukogee. Her last employer was Oklahoma State Employement Agency in Muskogee.


Known for "keeping it real", Sheila loved to play bingo, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. Sheila was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and surrogate to many friends.


In her 51st year, Sheila Ann Sutton left this life for a life eternal on Sunday, February 8, 2009, at her home with her son, Varon by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Sutton and her brother, Garry D. Simpson.


She leaves to cherish her memory; her darling mother, Viola Simpson, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her three sons, DaQuan Sutton, Klawuan Sutton and Varon Sutton, all of Muskogee; six grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy [Carl], Tammy Barnswell, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Laverne Simpkins, Purcell, Oklahoma; her brother, Fred Sutton, Jr., Omaha, Nebraska; her uncle, Melvin Brown, Oakland, California; her aunts, Betty Brown, Muskogee, Alene Sutton, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; along with a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends she loved dearly, her special friends, Ruby Anderson, Bernadette Schoats and Sheila McCLain and Felecia Stephenson, all of Muskogee.


The Farewell will be on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Faith Deliverance Christian Center. Pastor Lathon Archie will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
