Obituary

Ms. Sherann B. Gandy, in her 61st year, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, September 1, 2010 from Muskogee.

On March 23, 1949, Sherman and Earline Berry Black were blessed with a beautiful, baby girl, whom they named Sherann. "Sherri" as she was known by family and friends, grew up and received her formal education in the Muskogee Public Schools, graduating from Historic Manual Training High School with the Class of 1967. She met and married Johnny Gandy, Sr., and this union was blessed with 3 sons.

She was employed by Anderson Wholesale for many years and was a faithful member of Rayfield Baptist Church since 1996. Sherri was always willing to extend encouragement or a helping hand to anyone in need. Her kind spirit and loving demeanor proved her love of the Lord. She truly loved God, her family, her Pastor and her Church. She was an active member of the Usher Board, assistant in the Nursery Class and served faithfully until the end. She never complained and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

On Sept. 1, 2010, early Wednesday morning, Sherri "transitioned from Earth to Eternity" from Muskogee. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Rodney "Dad" Gandy and 2 sisters, Geraldine Baniks and Sandra Jean Gibbs, as well as a special aunt, Ethel Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memory; 2 sons, Johnny Gandy, Jr. [Rhonda], Arlington, TX and Dewayne Gandy, Muskogee; 4 sisters, Helen Strauther, Lyndia Black, Annie Mae Black and Barbara J. Chandler, all of Muskogee; a brother, Steven C. Black, Muskogee; an Aunt, Berniece Castleberry, Bakersfield, CA; a daughter-in-law, Stacy Gandy, Muskogee; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.

Her Tribute, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the Greater Rayfield Baptist Church. Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., Pastor, will Officiate. The Christian Committal will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery.

You may visit Mrs. Gandy on Friday, from 2 PM until 7 PM.
