Shirley Ann Turner Walker was born April 1, 1947 in Beland, OK to Emma B. Craig and Cornelius Turner. She was well loved and cherished (spoiled) by her grandparents, Big Mamma and Papa, aunts and uncles, her mother and "Daddy Mack." Shirley attended McSwain in Beland 1st through 4th grade. She attended 5 and 6 grade at Wheatley Elementary. Shirley graduated from Manual Training with the Class of 1965.


Shirley met and married Lana Walker in November, 1967. To their union 4 children were born, Sherri, Demetrius, Brian, and Markus. Their marriage was later dissolved.


Shirley was a very happy and loving person. She was very active in her children's lives. She worked with the Girls' Scouts and 4H club. Shirley acted as a mother to her younger siblings and other children.


Shirley always opened her heart and her home to anyone who needed it. She was famous for her fried chicken, 7up cake and socket-to-me cake.


She worked at Muskogee Regional Medical Center until she retired in 2010. She later worked at Sears until it closed.


Shirley served the Lord faithfully in her church. Her many roles consist of youth director, served on usher board, and Sunday school teacher. She also supervised the kitchen.


On Tuesday May 10, 2016, she completed her work for our Savior. Those going on to Glory before her include; her son, Markus Walker, her parents, Emma Taylor, Matthew Taylor, & Cornelius Turner, Grandparents, Roy & Ada Craig; Aunts, Alma & Oreaba; Uncles Vernon & Amos.


She leaves to cherish her daughter, Sherri Henderson, sons; Demetrius and Brian(Tamala), grandchildren; Darrin, Christopher(Jenay'), Aaron, Brandon, Dalante', Briana, Jyrelle, TaiBrion, Jaylon, Isiah, Ondraie, 4 great grandchildren; Learra, Aceyn, Zhylen and Lvmhe.


Also left to cherish her memory her two brothers; Anthony(Chequita) of Tulsa, Michael(Linda) of Muskogee, three sisters; Jacqueline Taylor, Vanessa Taylor, and Twyla Taylor all of Muskogee. Uncles; L'arthur B Craig, Sidney Craig and A.C. Carter.


Her childhood friend, Bethelda Drake, and lifelong friends; Joyce Ledbetter, Norma Canady, Sandra Harrison, Monette Walker, and many others who will also miss her as much as her family.

The final hour with Ms. Walker will be on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Faith Deliverance Christian Center. Reverend Roscoe Beasley, Pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
