On February 11, 1941, in Haskell, Oklahoma Louise Trent and Luke Hall were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. They named their new bundle of joy Shirley. She was one of two children born to this union.
Shirley graduated with the proud class 1959 from the Historic Booker T. Washington High School. Shirley then worked for SafeWay for many years. Later she moved to Bristow and then enjoyed the life of working at Kwisett for more than 20 years as a Quality Control Inspector. Her faith lay with Greater Mount Herman Baptist Church, which she cherished for many years.
She also enjoyed many active years as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a woman that was always on the go. If she was not spending time with her children and grandchildren, she was spending time with her husband. Shirley's main goal in life was being with her family. In addition to spending time with family she also managed to attain her Associates Degree from TCC in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While a student, Shirley made the dean's list every semester, which again showed her strength, knowledge and capabilities.
It wasn't until her stay in the hospital that friends and family found out about her battle with cancer. Because she was the rock for this family she took this burden on her own shoulders and never skipped a beat of being the amazing wife, mother and grandmother that she always was. There was never a point of weakness shown!
Shortly before her passing she told one of her son's as he was going to a fight-night, "make sure you bring me back a picture of you and Sugar Ray Leonard."
She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
Remaining to cherish her precious memories: her husband Earl Ray Hart Jr., six children; Lynne Wells, Donald Wells Jr., Ronald Wells, Rodney Hester, Yolanda Franklin (Ski Franklin), Ronda Porter (Jermaine Porter), 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of very special family and friends.
Services for Mrs. Hart will be held on Thursday April 29, 2010 at 11AM at Greater Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Bristow, Oklahoma. Rev. Cecil Washington of Greater New Hope Baptist Church of Depew, Oklahoma will officiate.
Friends may visit Shirley Wells-Hart in Tulsa on Wednesday from 10AM to 7PM. She will be laid to rest immediately following services at the Newby Cemetery in Bristow.
