IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stacey Ladon
Brown
May 12, 1969 – June 1, 2021
Reflection of " Suge B " and his life story
At 2:11 PM on May 12, 1969, the Brown household completely changed when Joyce Brown gave birth to a 6 pound, 3 ounce baby boy, who was given the name Stacey LaDon. This bundle of joy not only changed the household at 721 Jackson Street, but the household of his great-grandparents at 1008 South 10th street because not only was he the first grandchild to Clyde Sr., and Helen Brown, he was the only first great-grand in Muskogee.
From day one, he was the center of attention, spoiled by everyone including his uncle Clyde "Sonny" and aunts Charlene "Tutti", Patricia, Rena, Vickie, Terri, Ann [ 6 months older [ and two years later, Kim. It became that uncle, aunts, little brother bond that left Joyce, the mother, with no say in how he was going to be handled ! [Joyce did all the work, so why didn't she have some say?].....but it was all good because he received nothing but love and she was fine with that.
His grandfather and uncle took him under their wing and started the molding of making him into a little man that was inquisitive and afraid of nothing but snakes.
Stacey began his education journey at the Grant Foreman Elementary School, then on to Alice Robertson Jr. High School and attended Muskogee High School until his second term in the 11th grade, when he transferred to the Carter G. Woodson High School in Tullahassee, Oklahoma, where he graduated with the Class of 1987.
Stacey started his love of sports through the Paul Young Fooball league, under coaching and mentoring of Robert Perkins and sons, Gene Lasley, Coleman "Nudie" Hughes and sons, Clyde Thompson, Sr., Monte Snellgrove, Herb Justice and many other men in the community. Though small in stature and his mother's fear of injury, he fell in love with football, becoming a beast on the field and like UPS, he showed us what a "Brown" could do and delivered every time. Not stopping there, he showed up and showed out on the basketball court, wrestling mat and baseball diamond with several awards to prove it.
Everyone loved "little Stacey" from the southside, north, east and west. His love of people, he and Wendell Smith and the late Rodney Gandy together sponsored weekly dance parties, giving the young people a place to go and have fun. He also teamed up other young men and coached basketball teams as he was taught growing up.
As he became older and his determination to be the best he could be, he enrolled at Connors State College, then later, attending the University of Phoenix in Tulsa. Due to some difficult times, he took a break before coming back to find employment as delivery driver for local and Tulsa Rent to Own furniture companies, where he later advanced to assistant manager and eventually a manager.
Being a family oriented person, he always made time for his mother, brothers kids and not to mention his new title of "Papa Stacey!" If they called, he was gone. Always telling them "Don't be like me, be better than me" and out of all of his children, he was down to one who was to graduate next year.
He and friend Virgil opened Wizard Detail Shop His first born, Stacey "Trapp" Jr., blessed him with a truck and lawnmower to start his lawn service that had began to take flight after he left the fitness center. He had customers in Muskogee, Taft, Tulsa, Warner, Wagoner and had just finished a job in Pryor. He went to the gym nightly after completing a job or playing a softball game with several teams, one of which was "One Hit Wonders." Family and friends that knew Stacey knew a friend for life and he was loved by many.
Joyce was proud of the young man she raised, as all mothers are. He was her best friend, go-to guy, stress reliever and most of all, a loving big brother to his brothers Chris and Corey and father to his children, and a special "PaPa" to his grandchildren. Life will never be the same for any of his family but the one thing for certain, two for sure, he will never be forgotten by anyone who knew him. We're claiming "Justice" in his name. The life and love Stacey lived shows how awesome he was. This was all accomplished with God, prayers and a village of family that stood behind them for years.
On the 1st day of June, 2021, Stacey LaDon Brown, in his 52nd year with us, left this life for eternal life from Muskogee, Oklahoma. Awaiting his arrival in Glory; his brothers, Ronald Davis and Donnell Buchanan; his maternal grandparents, Clyde Sr., and Helen Brown; his paternal grandparents, Jesse Sr. and Cora Buchanan; his Aunt Charlene Gilyard; and his cousins, Wendell "BJ" Garnett and Herbet "TJ" Hill, IV.
He leaves to lament his passing; his mother, Joyce Brown Richardson; his sons, Stacey, Dylan, Darion, Deshaunte, Trevon, Tristan, Deven and Ethan; his daughters, Tiea, Karina, Stacia, Justice, Tryna'te and Mikayla; his grandchildren, Kaiya, Korbin, Maleyah, Micaiah, Destyni, Ki'yeala "Ki-Ki", Modecy "Mo-Mo", Stacey "Jr", Mi'King, Mi'Queen, Khylie, Darion Jr., Deonte, Octavian, Ka'Mari, Elaina, Keyon, Ashton and Ah'Major; his brothers, Christopher [Diana] Brown, Corey Knapper, John [Tiffany] Buchanan and Joseph [Stephanie] Buchanan; his sister, Roshea [Cory] Buchanan; his bonus friend and children, Andrea Reed, Quinton, Destiny, Elbony and Mahogany; his Uncle/Big Brother, Clyde [Debra] Brown, Jr., his Aunts/ Big and Little Sisters, Patricia Rouse, Rena Ward, Vickie Ragsdale, Terri Howell, Elizabeth Hill and Kim [Don] Osby; additional Uncles, Stanley Brown, Gary Coleman and Michael Dutton; Aunts, Darlene Brown and Sheila McLain; along with a caravan of other relatives and many, many friends.
Hopefully, no one gets offended, but Stacey was loved by so many friends and family so large, that if you don't see your name in black and white, we know and he knew who you are. But we would like to acknowledge these riders for life; Tyreece Buchanan, Thomas Johnson, Jr., Wendell Smith, Charles Roberts, Donald "Head" Shumate, Cedric Johnson, Alan Thompson and many, many more, as well as the entire Buchanan family.
