A beautiful baby boy named Steven Lamar Carter was born to Claude Thompson and Helen Marie Carter. He was reared by his mother and stepfather Willie B. Horn, Sr. Steven received his education from the Tulsa Public School System, culminating with his graduation from Raymond S. McLain High School. He went on to further his education at AIU Fashion Institute in Atlanta, GA, after which he enlisted in the United States Navy. Steven was an adventurer who loved to travel the world, and was also an avid lover of clothes and cologne, especially shoes. Steven enjoyed talking with some of his special family members on a daily basis: Stephanie, Shelly, Aunt Peaches and brother Corey. He enjoyed all of his family and friends and was often the life of the party. Anthony Thompson was one of his special uncles who assisted in guiding Mr. Carter in the right direction. Mr. Carter's love for children showed in his work at Sha'Lee Day Care.
Steven was called home to eternal rest from Saint John's Medical Center on Monday June 25, 2007. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, his maternal and paternal grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Remaining to cherish his precious memories: father Claude Thompson (Brenda) mother Helen Horn, sisters: Sonya Bengasy, Denver, CO., Katrina Thompson, Houston, TX., Stephanie and Stacy Horn, sheree Borens (Darius), brothers: Chris Nixon, Mississippi, Corey Thompson, who is currently stationed in Iraq, Willie Horn, JR., and D'Vonte Brown, Tulsa, OK. Other survivors include three special aunts, Flordia "Peaches" Shaw, Rosie "Sue" Carter and Rev. Debra "Detri" Carter, other aunts: Debra Tyler, Cynthia Tibbs (Larry), Connie Anthony Thompson, SR., Robert McGee, Mike Thomas and Darryl George, 1 niece Raigan Brown, 1 nephew, Darius Borens, JR. (Alex), close friends: Winston Pleasant, Travis "Lamar" Daniels, Jeremiah Wilkes, Rodney Watkins, and Amber Markham, who was like an angel.
Services for Mr. Carter will be Saturday June 30, 2007 at 11AM at St. Paul AME Church. Visitaion for Mr. Carter will be Friday from 12Noon to 7PM at the Tulsa Chapel.
