Obituary

On February 23, 1959 a beautiful girl was born to Theodore James Colbert and Inez Stanley-Colbert. They named her Tanara LaShone; she was the tenth of twelve children born to this union.

At an early age, she joined Metropolitan Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend C.L. West.

Tanara attended Tulsa Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1977 from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In 1978, she met Love Clarence Jones Jr. and to their union two children were born; Ciji and Tre.

She was employed with Spartan School of Aeronautics and Technology for several years and later accepted employment with Tulsa Community College where she worked faithfully until she became disable in 2003.

In 2012 alongside four of her siblings, her daughter and two grandchildren, Tanara was re baptized at World Won for Christ Family Life Ministries.

Tanara enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She had a huge heart and was a joy to all that met her and loved by all that knew her. She was more than a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. She was Dr. Phil, Oprah, a Banker and The Salvation Army. She was truly a genuine woman.

On November 22, 2014 Tanara departed this life at the age of 55. Preceding her in death: her parents, grandparents and four siblings; Anna, Mary, Larry and Tamara.

She leaves to forever cherish her memory: her daughter Ciji Jones (Donald Walters); her son Love Clarence Jones III; four grandchildren: Jabare' Walters, Ja'Niylah Walters, Na'Rihya Jones and Jerzey Walters; two sisters: Brenda Womack and Denise Collins both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five brothers: Frenchie Colbert of Phoenix, Arizona, Dwight Colbert (Rita) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Gerald Colbert, Darryl Colbert and Keenan Colbert all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a God-daughter , Cortellea Dickson of Austin, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Ms. Colbert will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Eleventh Hour in the prestige halls of World Won For Christ Tulsa, OK. You may visit Ms. Colbert as she slumbers on Friday, November 28, 2014 between the hours of two and seven o'clock.
