Mrs. Taretta Yvette Milton, after 53 years of life, transitioned "from Sudden death to sudden Glory" on Friday evening, March 24, 2023 from Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
On October 4 th 1969, a beautiful baby girl was born to Lula Dalcour and Charles Burt (CB) Montgomery in Okmulgee Oklahoma. Her name was Taretta Yvette Rice.
Taretta accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at the age of five years old at the Eastside Baptist Church in Okmulgee Oklahoma.
Taretta attended Okmulgee public school district, graduating from high school in 1987. She attended Green Country Vocational Technology school in 1996, receiving her Certified Nursing Assistance certificate.
Taretta worked at Rebold Manor for 18 years, where she was nominated and won CNA of the year in 2015. She worked there until her health began to fail and had to take time off. She became employed at Okmulgee Terrace where she was a valued employee. She
worked as a Physical Therapist aide. She also loved doing activities with the residents and helping wherever she could.
Taretta was nominated Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) of the year for and by the State of Oklahoma in 2015.
Taretta met and married James Milton 01/15/2020. She remained faithful to this union until the Lord called her home.
Taretta loved to cook family dinners and entertain her family. She was a competitive cook. She loved to try new recipes and compete with her husband James as they prepared meals together. Taretta was famous for her collard greens & Turnips, chitterlings, and purple hull peas. She was always willing to make one her special dishes for family and friends. She also enjoyed taking and collecting family photos. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going fishing, to the lake and picking wild onions. Taretta loved the color red and making herself beautiful.
Taretta was preceded in death by her parents, sibling Beverly Cheryl Hill, grandparents and a host of aunts and uncle.
Taretta leaves to cherish her memories; her husband, James Milton, two daughters, Andreika Rice and Markia McDade; Two sons, Antonio (Stephanie) Rice and Mark McDade Jr.,; Ten Grandchild, Dezairaye Rice, Desmond Rice, Talia Rice, Morriah Foster, Tylond Rice, Jon Hatcher, Jr., Patience Hatcher, Honesty Rice, Keiley Rice, and Cash Rice. Five brothers, Michael Hill of Okmulgee OK, Ernest (Monique) Rice of Tulsa OK, Jeffery (Leala) Rice Plant City, Florida. Jeremi Rice, Tulsa OK and Paul [Sherl] Montgomery. Her sisters Jennifer Rice Okmulgee OK, Janice Montgomery and Shellie Montgomery of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, family and a longtime friend Carol Sue Simon-Woodruff.
The Grand Exodus celebrating the life of Taretta will commence on Friday afternoon, March 31, 2023 at Two Hours past Noon in the most holy sanctuary of the Saint Matthew's Baptist Church. The Pastor, Reverend McKinley Rice will officaite.
The Christian Committal will follow the celebration in the sacred grounds of the Okmulgee City Cemetery.
You may visit Mrs. Milton, as she slumbers in sweet repose in the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee on Thursday between the hours of 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
