The Reverend Sharlotte McBride, Pastor of Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, in her 65th year, " put on her Robe and received her Crown" on Thursday evening, October 30, 2014 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
God touched two of his Angels on earth and instructed them, Albert and Bernadine [Fulsom] Lowe to care, teach, nurture and provide for one of his special children, a baby girl that was given the name Sharlotte Denna Lowe. She was born in Cathey, Oklahoma on June 25, 1949. Sharlotte's parents gave her all of the tools necessary to survive in this world, but first and foremost, they equipped her with a devout God fearing upbringing. In her short, 65 years on this planet, she managed to accomplish so many things and impact so many lives.
Sharlotte joined Little Rose Baptist Church at an early age, accepted Christ and was baptized. She loved to sing in the choir and music was her true passion. She attended school at Wheatley Elementary School, Sadler Junior High School and graduated from Historic Manual Training High School. She chose to pursue post-secondary degrees at Northeastern State University, where she earned multiple degrees. She received a BA in Education, Psychology, Sociology and a Masters in Elementary Education, with numerous endorsements and certifications as it pertains to the field of education, including the field of nursing. Last, but surely not least, she obtained many license and certifications from various Schools of Divinity and the A.M.E. Church.
She was married to the late Thomas McBride, Sr., and although their marriage was later dissolved, they remained friends.
Throughout her illustrious teaching career, Sharlotte taught for the following school districts; Tullahassee School District, Tulsa Public Schools, Gwinnette County Georgia School District and returned to Muskogee Public Schools prior to her retirement. She was very active in Civic and Social organizations, including the Red Cross, Junior Safety Patrol, various student councils, Oklahoma Educator Association, Georgia Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa and it's affiliated youth association, the local and state branches of the NAACP, more than a dozen religious and church affiliated organizations within the A.M.E. districts, which was held high and dear to her heart. She was also a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted and Versie Fulsom, Bennie and Fannie Lowe, her father, Reverend Albert Lowe, her brother Alvin Lowe and her grandchildren, Tyler, Tyson, Tia and Tamara McBride.
Pastor McBride leaves in God's care, her only child, Tyrus McBride, Atlanta, Georgia; her Mother, Mrs. Albert Lowe, Muskogee; four grandchildren, Brittany Love, Haskell, Oklahoma, Tiffany, Tess and Thomas McBride, all of Atlanta; two Great-Grandchildren, Siriah and Jayce McCoy, Haskell, Oklahoma; a Sister, Judy Campbell [Delbert], Muskogee; three Brothers, Larry Lowe [Cynthia], Midwest City, Oklahoma, Barthel Lowe [Joyce], all Albert Lowe, all of Muskogee; her Aunts, Bobbie Jean Clark, Margaret Tolbert, Mary Vincent, Alice Wright, Evangeline Hopkins, Gladys Robinson, Frances Lowe, Helen Ivory and Nora Watts; three Uncles, Steven Fulsom, Gary Fulsom and Charles Lowe; along with a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, Clergymen, Church family and friends.
The Celebratory Tribute for Reverend Sharlotte McBride will commence on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Timothy Baptist Church. Pastor Kelly Payne is the gracious host Pastor, Pastor Lester Beasley, Officiating and Pastor Ron Venters, Sr., Eulogist.
The Christian Committal will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee.
You may visit Pastor McBride, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM and the Wake will be from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Her beloved Sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., will hold their "Ivy beyond The Wall" Memorial Ceremony at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Remembrance and the public is invited to attend.
On Saturday, viewing will be prior to the service only. The casket will not be opened at the conclusion of the Celebration.
