Obituary

As if Thelma A. Sango had just finished Sunday worship, her name was
called on Sunday, September 8, 2013 by her Lord and Savior and she
readily answered the call.

She was born December 8, 1914 in Indian Territory, one of 8 children
born to Enos and Rennie Perryman. Thelma graduated from Historic Manual
Training High School in 1933. She became a licensed Nurse and was one
of the five black nurses from Providence Hospital to work at Muskogee
General Hospital. She retired from the hospital after working there
for 31 years. She married the late Lewis Ollie Sango on February 12,
1935 and from this union, no children were born.

Mrs. Sango loved people and enjoyed taking care of them. She showed
this each and every day, with her beautiful and warm smile. Sister
Sango was the oldest member and held the most years in membership at
the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She joined the Church in 1934 and
worked in several capacities throughout the Church. She taught Sunday
School, under the leadership of the late O. B. Barrett, member of the
Trinity Mission Circle, was a part of the choir under the late B. B.
Bell and President of the Mount Calvary Nurses Guild. She truly loved
her Church.

She leaves in God's care; Kenneth E. [Sango] Thomas, Jr., and
Collotta, Carol Thomas, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren,
a host of nieces and nephews and a caravan of cousins, and very special
friends, James and Beverly Dorn and of course, her Church family.

The Sacred Farewell will be shared on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the most Holy Sanctuary of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Her Pastor, Reverend Gary Hall, Sr., will Preside. The Christian Committal will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
