Jessie W. and Cora L. Buchanan were blessed with a precious, baby boy in Muskogee on August 22, 1948. They named him Theodore Raymond, referring to him as "Teddy" for short.
At an early age, he accepted Christ into his heart and attended Little Rose Baptist Church, where his Grandfather, Pastor Joseph Wally Buchanan led the fellowship.
Teddy attended Muskogee Public Schools, graduating from Historic Manual Training High School Class of 1967. He stood out as a talented football player and singer, singing in the talent shows idolizing the temptations.
In 1978, he met and united in Holy Matrimony with his wife of 42 years, Rebecca Buchanan. He was employed with Smurfit-Stone Containers as a machine operator for 34 years. Teddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing and was always a prankster to the whole family.
In his 63rd season, Theodore Raymond Buchanan was called home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca, his parents, a brother, Jesse and his grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory; three sons, Steven "Booga" Buchanan, Jonathan Buchanan and his pet "KiKi", of the home, and Donnie Mahone, North Dakota; a daughter, Charlette Mahone, Muskogee; five brothers, Joseph, John, Dwayne, Glen and James; sisters, Geraldine Walker, Edna Lowe, Sharon Buchanan, Charlotte Buchanan, and Josephine Buchanan; along with a host of other relatives, co-workers and friends.
A Graveside Ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Greenhill Cemetery. Apostle Lathan Archie, Pastor of Faith Deliverance Christian Center, will officiate.
You may visit Mr. Buchanan as he slumbers at the funeral home in Muskogee on Friday from 12 Noon until 6 PM.
