Obituary

Theodore Shaw was the first born child of Theodore Shaw and Pearlie Gamble Mackey, born on May 28, 1941 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.

He attended grade school in Sapulpa, before attending George Washington Carver Junior High School and ultimately graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, with the Class of 1960.


In 1963, Theodore enlisted in the United States Army, where he spent two years as a rifle marksman and construction equipment operator before his honorable discharge.


He worked at the Tulsa Country Club before becoming a spray painter at National Tank. He attended Tulsa Technical School and received his diploma in Drafting. He gained employment at Lee C. Moore as a trainee before earning a spot in the drafting department. He gained enough experience to move on to several other companies advancing his income.


In 1987, Mr. Shaw retired from drafting to start his own business in home remodeling. This was done until his health began to fail. On Tuesday night, March 16, 2010, the Lord called Theodore Shaw home in his 68th season. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father [Hillard McFarlin] and his step-brother, [Benjamin].


He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 46 years, Alfreda Hoggans Shaw; two children, Garland Maurice and Sharon Denise [Ron Burnett]; four grandchildren, Tiffani and Aireka Shaw, Elon Tyner [Jenill Myers] and Chattell Shaw; one great-grandchild, Ja'niyah Tyner Shaw; a sister, Delois Shaw; two brothers, Kenneth Shaw [Sherri] and Jimmy Avery; along with other nieces, nephews, and cousins.


The final salute will take place on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Phillippi Baptist Church. Reverend Vernon McFarlin, Pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Okmulgee. You may visit Mr. Shaw, as he slumbers in repose at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 Noon to 5 PM.
