Obituary

On March 1, 1905 in the small rural community of Yeager, Oklahoma, the Lord blessed Thomas Jefferson Brown and Julia Simon with another son. The name he was given was Thomas Jefferson, after his father. He was the tenth child of twelve children welcomed into the family. Thomas attended the Brownsville elementary school in the Wetumka area.

His nephew, Thurman Brown, grew up with him and they spent most of their lives as though they were brothers. If you saw one, you would see the other. Thomas loved hunting, traveling, and gardening. He worked for a number of years at Tinker Air Force Base.

Thomas accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age at the Fifth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Oklahoma City for a number of years. He loved the scriputures and read them daily. His favorite scripture was Psalms Chapter 8.

Mr. Brown was a family man and loved his family and did all he could to ensure that his family was taught the ways of the Lord and to walk in His foot steps.

The Lord blessed Thomas with 102 years of life and called him home Friday afternoon, November 9, 2007 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. His parents, siblings, and a daughter, Bernice Brown, preceded him in death.

Remaining to cherish his precious memories, are four sons: first born Nathaniel L. Brown, his first born, Alexandria, VA., Thomas Jefferson Brown, JR., Matteson, Ill., Clarence Brown, Shelton Brown, both of Oklahoma City, OK., and a host of grand children, nephews, nieces, and cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 15, 2007 graveside at Woodlawn Cemetery at 11AM. Friends may visit Mr. Brown as he rests at Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. Chapel of Peace on Wednesday from 10AM to 6PM.
