Obituary

Mr. Thomas Nathaniel McVay passed away on May 31, 2020 in Los Angeles, California. Visitation will be held on June 9, 2020 between the hours of 4:00-6:00PM.  Services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the All Faiths Chapel 1414 N. Norfolk Ave Tulsa, OK 74106.

On June 26 th , 1935 a baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lucora and Dave Mcvay in Fort Coffee Oklahoma. They named their third miracle Thomas Nathanial Mcvay.

He was very close to his sister Leora and his brother Henry. They were the eldest of eight children and grew up taking on many responsibilities to help the family. Being the easy going person we was little things like singing and reading gave him much joy. He joined church at an early age, and even took part in singing in the church choir.

He attended Canaan Rule School from elementary through junior high, and graduated from Manual Training Senior High School in Muskogee Oklahoma as class of 1955".  After joining the United States marine's corps. Thomas trained to become a diesel mechanic. In 1959 after leaving the service he moved to Los Angeles to start his life.

Thomas's first wife was Ruth Hodge and last was Valerie Porter.

He was a father to Manual Mcvay, Maurice Mcvay, Cathy Mcvay, and Vegas Mcvay, Debra Sue Titsworth Walker, Tommy Mcvay, Deangelo Mcvay, Suzette Bradley, Donald Henderson Jr.,

Thomas enjoyed shooting pool and playing dominoes his friends The Magic Johnson park Club. Here's a bit of what his playing group had to say after hearing of his passing.

" We the Magic Johnson Park Club want to say how much we love Smokey Mcvay. He's the cause of our group becoming a domino club. Smokey was a mentor, a friend, a man of God and we love and will miss him always. Smokey take your rest. Your friends The Magic Johnson Park Club "

Throughout his lifetime Thomas has made more than a couple friends Maurice Hodge, Pork Chop Lee, Curtis, Lonnie Bates, and  James Bates, are just a couple that he's carried with him since his young Muskogee childhood days.

Thomas was proceeded in death by his parents Dave and Lucora Mcvay. He had four sisters Mayetta Mcvay Chatman Clayton , Ada Mae Mcvay, Leora Mcvay Williams, Rose Mcvay. And four brothers Amas Mcvay Wright, Henry Allen Mcvay, James Mcvay,and Lavon Mcvay. Also in passing was his first wife Ruth Hodge, and their children Baby Vegas, and Cathy Mcvay.

Those left to carry on, His wife Valarie Mcvay and children Donald Henderson and Suzette Bradley, Manual Mcvay, Maurice Mcvay, Debra Sue Titsworth Walker, Tommy Mcvay, Deangelo Mcvay and many grandchildren. And Siblings being Lewis Mcvay, Arnice Franklin, Joyce Mcvay.
