Tracy Jeter was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on November 29, 1923, the son of Ervin Leonard and Vivian [McIntosh] Jeter. He was the middle child of the family and was very close with his siblings.
At the age of about one year old, the family moved to Okemah, Oklahoma and lived on a ranch 5 miles east and ¾ miles north of Okemah. Tracy attended grade school at Mountain Grove. The school was about 1 mile from the family home, where he and his siblings walked to school daily each way. He was very active in sports and in the 7th & 8th grades, played baseball, basketball and track.
Tracy attended Okemah High School. He and his siblings rode the school bus to school and loved history, which was his favorite subject. Two weeks shy of graduation, he was called up to service. He was 17 years old when he joined the Marines. You had a choice of which arm of the service you wanted to join at that time. He served his country honorably from March 24, 1943 until December 31, 1945 and was a purple heart recipient.
He met his first wife, Olliween Crow, at the Okemah National Bank where she was a teller. Their union was blessed with four children; Larry,
Jennifer, Leonard and Janene.
Later in life, he met and married Pauline Frances Wineberger on June 2, 1987 in Cody, Wyoming. Upon retirement, they moved to Gore, Oklahoma where they made their home. He loved fishing and to fly his own plane during his lifetime.
Mr. Jeter worked most of his life in the Oil Field industry and after moving to Gore, Oklahoma, spent his time farming, fishing and hunting. He also loved tinkering with mechanical gadgets and cars out in his workshop. He had an "uncanny" memory-even to this day, recalling many things most would not remember. He will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
After 94 years of life, Tracy Jeter transitioned from Earth to Everlasting. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Cody, a son, Larry Jeter and a granddaughter, Theresa.
He leaves to lament his death; his loving wife, Pauline Jeter, Gore, Oklahoma; his children, Jennifer Donner and husband Harvey, Recluse, Wyoming, Leonard Jeter, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Janene McDonald and husband Gregg, Cody Wyoming; his grandchildren, Traci, Jeffrey, Matthew, Roxie, Trey, Justin and Jenny; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
