Obituary

A child born on the Sabbath Day is fair and wise and good in every way.

On Sunday June 26, 1949, Willie Sr. and Estola Fields were blessed with a son they named Travis. Travis grew up under the watchful eye of his parents. Travis began his school years in Slick, Oklahoma, and later transferred to Bristow, Oklahoma where he attended Rosenwald Elementary school. In 1958 Travis, his parents and younger sister moved to Beggs, Oklahoma where he started school at Wheatley Schools. Travis completed his High school education at Wheatley High School becoming a member of the last graduating class of Historic Wheatley High School in 1967. Travis attended Bishop College in Texas before enlisting in the Army in 1968. During his enlistment in the Army Travis completed 3 tours of duty in Vietnam before returning home.

After receiving an "Honorable Discharge" from the Army, Travis returned home began working in Tulsa for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. While employed at HUD Travis returned to college and completed with a degree in Business from Tulsa Community College. Travis worked in the Tulsa HUD office until he relocated to another Housing and Urban Development office in Phoenix, Arizona. After 28 years of service he retired in 1998. Still wanting to be of service to people Travis became employed at the City of Phoenix and worked until his retirement in 2012.

During his stay in Phoenix, Arizona, Travis became a member of Rock Church rededicating his life to Christ. In 2006 Travis became an Ordained Minister preaching his first sermon entitled… "Thinking, Believing and Confessing." Travis remained a faithful member, servant and minister until God called him home for his reward.

Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Estola Fields, one sister Nona Wright, two brothers Jim Fields and Willie Jr. Travis leaves to mourn two daughters, Brandi Fields (Chicago, IL) and Kelli Fields (Phoenix, AZ), one sister Almeta Kemp (Okmulgee, Ok) as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.

Graveside services for Mr. Fields will be held at Harlensville Cemetery in Bristow, Oklahoma Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:00AM.

Directions to the cemetery: Take the Bristow exit off the Turnpike and head West on Highway 16. A few miles down the road you will see a sign that states Cemetery, go past that sign and make a Right turn on marker 401 Road. Then head down a few miles and make a Right turn on marker 181 Road and then you will head straight into the cemetery.
